Asari Dokubo has been a very strong voice of opposition regarding the kidnap of Chibok school girls.He has said it's a scam..When asked by Vanguard why he thinks so even with the international community stepping in..he said

How can you believe that 270 girls will be taken? How? It is not possible. If you tell us that 20 girls were taken, 30, maybe 50, fine. How will you tell us that 270 girls were writing physics exam? How? In which school? Where? Even in the most educationally advanced part of this country, can you find any school where even 20 students are writing physics? I run a school. How many of my students are writing physics? They just finished their SSCE? And this is an elitist school, we make very good results. How many people are writing physics? Who are they telling?

The newly-crowned Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, has shelved his public defiance and begged President Goodluck Jonathan, personally and through intermediaries, to lift police siege on his palace and forgive him his trespasses, presidency officials, associates of some of the intermediaries and sources within the Kano State Government and the Emir’s palace have told PREMIUM TIMES.
Police ended the siege late Thursday, four days after Mr. Sanusi, a former governor of the Central Bank, emerged monarch of the powerful Kano emirate.
Police authorities deny neither the blockade nor its lifting was on the instructions of the president.
Mr. Jonathan has been embroiled in months of acrimony with the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Olaoluwa Oluwadara, 24, has bagged a Ph.D degree in Mathematics at the just concluded 2012/2013 session convocation ceremony at the University of Lagos. Olaoluwa, who bagged his first and second degrees in Mathematics and Physics in 2007 and 2008 respectively from the Universite de Bangui in Central African Republic, graduated with a Cummulative Gross Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0 [first degree].

Olaoluwa’s feat supersedes that of Olabisi Adeyemi, a 26-year-old female who bagged a Ph.D with a CGPA of 4.98 in 2012 and Opeyemi Shodipe, 25 of Babcock University.

There are indications that Kano State governor, Rabi’u Kwankwaso who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), could emerge as the presidential candidate of the opposition APC in the 2015 general elections.
This follows the decision of the party to dump former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu from the race to pick its presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2015 presidential election.The governors of the APC favour Kwankwaso as a result of the recent local government elections in Kano where the party garnered over two million votes, winning all the 44 local government chairmanship positions and all the councillorship seats, although the result is considered not to be free and fair.
Kwankwaso, it was learnt has what it takes to win the presidency for the opposition party, even as our source said that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal was never in contention.

Been holding on to the news because I wanted to be 100% sure it's true...unfortunately it is. Our Branama queen is gone. Kefee Obareki Don Momoh passed away this morning June 13th at the US hospital where she was taken to after she collapsed and went into coma. She never came out of the coma. Her international manager Adeline has confirmed her passing and Kefee's husband also confirmed to a Star FM staff, where he works. What a sad day. May her soul rest in peace..Amen.

Lagos state University students have rejected Governor Fashola's proposed 34% and 60% across the different faculties and courses reduction in school fees.

At a press conference held yesterday June 12th in Ogba, the President of LASU Student Union Government, Nurudeen Yusuf, said the state government should spell out the proposed new fees in Naira and Kobo rather than this percentage as their parents who are responsible for the payments do not know how to calculate in percentage.

On his part, the new Emir, HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is calling on President Jonathan and his government to do everything possible to bring back the kidnapped Chibok girls rather than dissipate their energy on him.

A 13-year-old Hungarian boy accused of stealing a cell phone was tried as an adult and sentenced to jail in Russia because officials refused to believe he's 13. Why, you ask? Because of the size of his penis.
The Moscow Times reports that the boy, identified only as Tomas to protect his identity, was just 12-years-old when he allegedly stole a cell phone in March after coming to live with his aunt in Russia. Despite maintaining his innocence, he was tried as an adult because prison doctors who examined his teeth and genitals determined that he had to be at least 16.

The state’s capital is now better known as the birthplace of Boko Haram and peace here is always uncertain.

Down the dusty streets we drive, passing checkpoint after checkpoint manned not by soldiers but civilians, mostly armed with little more than machetes and swords. These vigilante groups, driven by a determination and motivation that the Nigerian security forces largely lack, have managed to establish some semblance of security in Maiduguri. Their pursuit of Boko Haram has become relentless — hardened as they are by losses to the terror group over the years — and they show no mercy, not even to family.

“I caught him with my hand and handed him over to the authority,” one of the sector’s leaders, Abba Ajikalli, tells us unapologetically. He is speaking about his 16-year-old nephew, who he says was with Boko Haram.

“He has been executed,” Ajikalli informs us, without a hint of remorse on his face. “He was like my son, I have no regret.”

A 45-year-old native doctor, Jamiu Alao, was on Monday charged with defrauding two men of N21.1 million and attempted murder at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Mr. Alao, who lives at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun, is facing charges of conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretences and attempted murder.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

But the prosecutor, Innocent Odugbo, told the court that Mr. Alao committed the offences with others still at large sometime in April at Mayfair Estate, Ajah in Lekki.

He said the native doctor collected N3million from one Raimi Oluwaseyi under the guise of giving him spiritual protection.

The prosecutor said the accused had on April 8 at Ijabi Quarters, Ijebu-Ode, also collected $116,000 (N19.1million) from Mr. Oluwaseyi and one David Orji on the pretext of protecting them spiritually.

“The native doctor gave the complainants a substance to drink for spiritual protection and directed that it should be consumed at a residence in Lagos.

A Yaba chief magistrate’s court in Lagos, yesterday, held that a teenager, Avoseh Satingo, has a case to answer in the alleged rape of an 80-year-old blind woman.

It, therefore, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody. The Magistrate made this known following advice by the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

She said the DPP advised that a prima facie case had been established against 19-year-old Satingo.

The Police had on March 24 charged the teenager with raping an octogenarian on her bed.

Yesterday the Nigerian military released a statement saying they foiled an attack by Boko Haram men in Adamawa and Borno state on Saturday which resulted in the death of 50 of the sect men.

Presidential Spokesman Reuben Abati this afternoon posted some pics of weapons recovered after the battle on his instagram page. He also shared a pic of some of the Boko Haram members killed.
