What My Wife Went Through in The Hands of Those Bad Boys

*Kidnappers of SUN Deputy MD's wife allegedly paid N10m as ransom
Mrs. Oluwatoyin Nwosu, the wife of the Deputy Managing Director of The Sun Newspapers, Steve Nwosu, was finally released from the clutches of her abductors on Thursday morning.

While in captivity, she was said to have been locked up in one of the rooms of an uncompleted building in a swampy area of Lagos...

The victim was released yesterday at 2.30 am, exactly 102 hours after she was abducted from her Okota residence by a nine-man armed gang on Monday.

Although the family kept mum on the N100m demanded as ransom to secure her release, THISDAY said they learnt the family allegedly shelled out N10 million to the bad guys.

Hours after the ransom was allegedly paid, the kidnappers took the family and the police on a wild goose chase for hours before they finally made good their promise to release her.

They finally dropped her around the bridge linking FESTAC Town to Amuwo Odofin  before making their getaway in their speedboat through the canal under the bridge.

It was also gathered that a large contigent of policemen went on the rescue operation because they were not sure of the plans of the kidnappers.

They compelled Nwosu to stay at home instead of accompanying them like he originally planned.

Speaking with THISDAY at his residence, a visibly elated Nwosu said his wife was not manhandled in any way by the kidnappers.

He said it was important for his wife to rest, then she would go to the hospital for a proper checkup.

“She starved herself not that they starved her. She told me that when she told them she could not eat the food from a buka (a local eatery), they went out of their way to buy her food at a fast food restaurant.

“Even at that, she didn’t eat and again, the place they held her was swampy and they decided she shouldn’t face the mosquitoes with them and they went to get her a mosquito net.

“She is okay just that she is facing mental torture and exhaustion and that is why I said she should go somewhere and rest.

“We want to thank the government for its level of involvement. Before this ordeal, she saw her husband as just a journalist and suddenly, there was this outpouring of sympathy.

“Now she knows that wealth is not all about money," the husband stressed.
