The
Brazil-made Embraer 120 plane which crashed on Thursday in Lagos,
southwestern Nigeria, killing at least 13 people, was 23-year old and
last flew on 30 August 2013, Associated airlines said at a press
conference.
The airline’s chief operating officer, Taiwo Raji, said the crashed plane was last serviced on 24 June 2013 in Lagos.
“The last time the affected plane flew was on the August 30, 2013, while the age of the aircraft was 23 years.
“We
have 10 aircraft in our fleet and six serviceable aircraft and the last
A-check maintenance was done on June 14, 2013. And the plane was
insured by Sema insurance company and Nigerian Re-insurance,” Raji said.
Raji said the airline has 10 aircraft in its fleet with only six serviceable planes.
He confirmed that there were 20 souls on board, 13 died and seven survived.

Dr.
Wilfred Haggai said five of the survivors were being treated at Lagos
State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja wile one is at the Liaison
Airforce Hospital also at Ikeja and the last one at Ebute Meta.
He said the airline is insured. He did not elaborate.
A press conference has been scheduled for Friday morning.
